Is dialysis covered by Medicare?

Your costs in Original Medicare pay for dialysis services in a dialysis facility. When you have Original Medicare, you’ll have to pay a 20% coinsurance after you pay the Part B yearly deductible. The remaining 80% will be covered by Medicare. Your coinsurance will vary. Depending on whether you have Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) or a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C), your costs may be different. You can find out your cost information by reading your plan materials or contacting your benefits administrator. You must also continue to pay your monthly Medicare Part B and Part D (if applicable) premiums.

What will I pay for dialysis in a hospital?
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) will cover your dialysis treatments as part of the costs of your hospital stay if you’re admitted to a hospital and get dialysis.  If you’re in a Medicare Advantage Plan, what you pay may be different.
